Living in Camden Town

Camden town has been a draw for tourists and residents for many years. Known for its incredible market 100,000 people visit the area every single weekend. Its residents would argue that Camden is the best place to live in London due to its unique vibe. The Camden Lock and Canal is also incredibly famous but what does the area have to offer its residents?

 

Market

Camden markets are comprised from a number of large retail markets which is known as Camden market or Camden lock. The market is a massive attraction due to its crafts, variety of food establishments and clothing sold on the stalls. It’s the fourth most popular visitor attraction in London drawing in crowds up to 250,000 people a week. The weekend is the peak time for footfall in the market, many traders operate throughout the week. One of the principle draws for visitors is the vast selection of fast-food stalls. The other main reason for visitors is the selection of new and second-hand clothing. 2016 saw the market receive a huge injection of cash that will transform it in traditional arts and crafts centre in the capital.

 

Music scene

Probably the most famous musical trend to come out of Camden was the punk music scene. You can still spot many a brightly coloured Mohican when you visit the area but it’s not just punk music Camden has to offer. Fans of live entertainment can enjoy gigs at the famous Roundhouse and Electric Ballroom both located in Camden. This vibrant music scene is one of the factors that makes Camden town popular for student rentals and student housing in NW1.

 

Transport links

Camden Town underground station is in zone 2 on the northern line. It’s just a couple of stops too Euston enabling international travel. Plans have also been unveiled for a development known as the Camden Highline.

The Camden Highline will turn a disused stretch of railway viaduct into a new elevated park and walking route, connecting Camden Gardens in the west to York Way in the east. It will be a space that people will be inspired by, learn from and enjoy, with seating areas, cafés, public art and charitable activities.

The route is 1.2km long, around 8 metres above ground and will bring new local green space to 20,000 people.”

This exciting addition to the Camden skyline will no doubt draw in buyers and renters as well as add to the tourist trade.

Camden’s reputation as a cosmopolitan buzzing centre has meant that it shed its industrial unfashionable past and become a popular place to buy or rent. It really does have a charm all its own and is one of the only areas in London where Street art is encouraged. Culminating in the notorious Banksy/Robbo feud. The canal running straight through the heart of Camden provides the perfect place to eat food bought on the market enjoy cold drink. There are some that say Camden is the best place to live in London which undoubtedly makes it desirable for people looking to buy or rent.
